Dorothy R. Adcock, 85, of Du Quoin, passed away at 1:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.
Dorothy was an L.P.N.  She was also a C.N.A. Instructor for South Georgia Medical Center.  She had worked as an L.P.N. at the Pinckneyville Community Hospital and for Dr. Cawvey for many years.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin.  Dorothy had lived and worked in Kankakee, IL before returning to the Du Quoin area, then to Valdosta, GA before returning again to Du Quoin.
She was born April 21, 1919 in St. Johns, IL, the daughter of L. Stanley and Nellie J. (Moore) Baxter.
She married William C. Adcock on March 19, 1940 in St. Genevieve, Missouri and he preceded her in death on October 24, 1988.
She is survived by one son - David R. Adcock and wife Jane of Eagle Rock, Mo., one sister - Audrey Manis and husband James of Du Quoin, one son-in-law - Richard Prairie of Valdosta, Ga., four grandchildren - Cathy L. Sims, John W. Prairie and Michael Prairie, all of the Valdosta, Ga. area, and William S. Adcock of Morris, Ill., and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter - Janet E. Prairie and one infant son - William S. Adcock.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, April 9, 2005 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Steve Bareis officiating.
Friends may call from 9 A.M. until the time of service on Saturday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to the Marshall Browning Hospital Tree of Life and will be accepted at the funeral home.
